Welcome to the PHV Refresher Course - Sheep and Goat (PHVRS&G 1500)!
You have enrolled in the Public Health Veterinarian (PHV) Refresher Course - Sheep and Goat training module. The purpose of this training is to refresh your skills in antemortem and postmortem examination and disposition for ovine and caprine species. This training may be particularly helpful to experienced PHVs in the field who may be changing assignments and have not had hands-on experience with sheep and goat slaughter. The training is designed to familiarize you with what you are most likely to see and experience, whether it be in a very small establishment or in a large, high-volume facility.
Since you are now experienced Public Health Veterinarians, the focus of this training is to help you make expedient (but not rushed!), sound and supportable disposition decisions given the options you are given to document in the PHIS Animal Disposition Reporting (ADR) module. We have included the relevant regulatory citations wherever possible to help you support your decisions. Additionally, you will find links to useful relevant resources at the bottom of the homepage.
We estimate it will take you approximately 2 hours to complete this training.
