This training course is available throughout the fiscal year. This course can be completed within approximately 6 hours total time at your own pace. We recommend you complete the course within 2 weeks of the date you begin. Once you have completed the training, please complete the course evaluation form located at the bottom of this page. After you have completed the course registration form, please open the introduction module below to start the course and learn how to navigate the training system features.
This training focuses on how to perform your daily inspection tasks safely according to agency regulations and guidelines. This course will cover FSIS Laws & Regulations, Employee Rights and Responsibilities, FSIS Health & Safety Program responsibilities, FSIS Materiel Management Service Center, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Occupational Noise & Hearing Conservation, FSIS Lockout Program, and General Occupational Health.
Please ensure you have the student technical instruction guide readily available as you take the course so that you may take notes if you wish. The In Plant Safety Training Refresher Course Student Guide is located in the Resources Tab at the bottom. This document can be saved to your computer.
Once you have finished the course, close the window to return to the course page in AgLearn, then proceed to "Step 2: Assessment" and complete the short quiz.

This course will provide general safety training and information on agency requirements. Specific questions about your assignment will fall to the immediate supervisor in your area. The forms in the course are in PDF format so they can be downloaded and saved if you want to save them for future use. Specific use of equipment and application of policy will vary from assignment to assignment because of varying PPE requirements based on products being produced. Your immediate supervisor is the first line resource for questions and clarification about safety requirements specific to your daily duties. The Occupational Specialist assigned to your area is also another resource for specific questions. Your immediate supervisor can reach out to the Occupational Safety and Health group on your behalf.
Once you have finished the course, return to the course page in AgLearn, then proceed to "Step 2: Assessment" and complete the short quiz.
