The course begins on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 9:00 am ET

(8:00 am CT, 7:00 am MT, and 6:00 am PT) 

The course ends on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 6:00 pm ET

(5:00 pm CT, 4:00 pm MT, 3:00 pm PT)

Course Overview

The Inspection Methods Condensed course will provide an overview of the responsibilities of the inspection workforce. This overview includes a mid-level review of the food safety laws, Rules of Practice, HACCP pathogen reduction regulations, slaughter activities, and familiarization of processing environments. Quizzes and workshops will be provided throughout the training session.

Target Audience

The target audience is FSIS non-in-plant inspection personnel who have not completed a previous inspection methods class.

Course Logistics

This course will be instructor-led, conducted virtually (online) through Microsoft Teams. 

Participants will need a government computer (not shared during the training), and the ability to connect either directly to the USDA network or to the VPN via MiFi, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet. Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome are the preferred web browsers.  CFL will not provide a training computer or other equipment for this training session. Please contact CEC to request a computer if you do not have one already. Following enrollment, participants will receive instructions and a link to the FSIS Training Site.
