The FSIS Directive 2450.1, Revision 7, outlines the procedures for the assignment and use of motor vehicles for official business by FSIS personnel. It emphasizes the importance of using public transportation when available and practical, and allows the use of Government owned/leased vehicles (GOVs) for extensive travel. FSIS employees may also use a privately owned vehicle (POV) when authorized or approved for official business. The directive also includes training requirements and safety protocols to ensure compliance and maintain an effective vehicle fleet program.

After completing this course, you should be able to Identify and explain the rules and regulations governing the use of GOVs in your agency, evaluate the responsibilities of supervisors in managing GOV misuse complaints, Respond to and resolve allegations of GOV misuse in compliance with FSIS and GSA policies. Understand the process of handling GOV misuse complaints through Internal Affairs and LERD. Ensure Compliance with GOV safety and operational procedures, including proper use of telematics.
