FY26 Self-paced Courses and Refresher Courses Open Enrollment
FSIS provides a range of foundational and specialized courses for inspectors to improve their technical skills and knowledge. Continuous learning is emphasized through refresher courses that help FSIS field personnel stay current with inspection procedures, reinforce critical inspection skills and enhance technical expertise, especially during staffing transitions between job roles and inspection assignments.
Here is a breakdown of the self-paced, online courses with open enrollment in Aglearn offered by the Agency. Sessions start October 6, 2025 and end on September 30, 2026.

PHIS Electronic Export (EE 9000)
(Duration: 6 hours)
- Content: This training covers how to perform the Export Certification functions in PHIS as outlined in FSIS Directive 13,000.5. It includes tasks for both CSIs and PHVs, such as approving or rejecting export applications, issuing replacement certificates, and signing and printing export certificates according to destination country requirements.

District Veterinary Medical Officers (DVMO 2300)

· Course Description: The course focuses on several important topics; HH/GCP regulatory requirements, policies, and the DVMO’s role in: HATS verification, stunning/handling, verifying if an establishment implements a Systematic Approach, conducting verification visits and DVMO enhanced outreach visits, HH/GCP noncompliance and enforcement, and other HH/GCP related correlation, data, and duties assigned to the DVMO. It will also cover APHIS MOUs, time management, managing up, maxi flex work schedule, transition training, and communications.

- Content: This course focuses on five important topics: Statistics, Validations, Routine risk-based Listeria monocytogenes (RLm) sampling program, Intensified Verification Testing (IVT), and Evidence Collection. It is targeted at EIAOs and PHVs who previously completed the EIAO course. Supervisory EIAOs and Frontline Supervisors (FLS)s are also encouraged to participate.

- Content: This course covers topics like labeling, net weights, sausage operations, cured meat and poultry product operations, and meat and poultry products with added solutions. It includes multiple case studies and is targeted at CSIs who have job duties in a further processing establishment.

- Content: This course focuses on canning regulations, process deviations, investigation of canned food spoilage incidents, and case studies. It is targeted at CSIs who have job duties in a thermal processing establishment and previously attended the Thermal Processing Inspection course.

Import Inspection Refresher (IIR 7200)
(Duration: 4 hours)
- Content: This training reviews the regulatory basis and procedures for important types of inspection (TOI) such as Certification TOI and Label Verification TOI. It includes reviewing health certification and application documents, unit counting, and Refused Entry procedures for shipments that fail to meet US requirements.

- Content: This course covers the FSIS Health & Safety program, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment, Occupational Noise, and General Safety. It is targeted at CSIs and PHVs who have previously completed Food Inspector, PHV, or In-plant Safety training.
